About our teaching methodology
Our teachers specialized in teaching French as a foreign language, guide students in their discovery, learning, and mastery of the language and encourage spontaneous exchanges during the course.
Students learn to communicate and have an everyday conversation in a variety of daily circumstances through the study of dialogues and texts, exploiting a broad range of modern and proved communication-based methods and materials (role plays, creative group exercises, audio and video recordings, songs, current press articles, French literature, etc.).
They will progressively increase their vocabulary, develop their grammar, their oral comprehension and their ability to speak.
Pronunciation is corrected at all times during class, and homework is given to the students at the end of each day. Suitable course material will be given to students for use during the course.
Students are placed in small groups according to their level (8 to 12 students maximum in each group) that allows each student to actively participate.
We offer every month several different groups of level: Basic (A1), Low Intermediate (A2), Intermediate (B1), High Intermediate (B2), and Advanced (C1). A special course is dedicated to students with Complete Beginner (A0) level.
Organisation of French general courses
Courses start every Monday, except for students who are “complete beginners”, who must begin their courses on specific dates (see calendar of sessions).
An assessment test is held on Monday morning in order to place each student in the correct level group.
Paris Langues organises a cultural activity on Wednesday afternoon each week. Through these activities the students can discover Paris and the diversity of French civilisation by participating in excursions offered on themes as varied as art, architecture, gastronomy, cinema and history.
All courses at Paris Langues meet the levels defined by the Council of Europe in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). See below.
Our method is based :
- on 4 linguistic skills: oral and written comprehension, oral and written expression
- on the use of the language in the everyday situations of the French.
Our teaching material is :
- created for practising a modern, living language.
- enhanced with numerous real documents: songs, newspaper and magazine articles, videos, games…
The teachers at Paris Langues
- lead their classes in a way which allows each student to feel at ease.
- ensure that each student has the chance to speak.
- systematically correct pronunciation during the class.

|B1||Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.|
|B2||Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.|
|C1||Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit meaning. Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. |C2||Can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read. Can summarize information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation. Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in more complex situations.
